Edna Jenkins

FREMONT - Edna Mae Barnes Jenkins, 87, died September 8, 2008. She was a native of Fremont and current resident of Manassas, VA, where she died. Her mother was the late Nettie Davis Barnes and she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Barnes. After marriage to Hugh Jenkins she moved from UNC-Chapel Hill to California where for many years she worked as a federal government audio visual specialist and wrote travel articles for Sunset Magazine and Westways. Funeral, Saturday, 11 AM, Fremont United Methodist Church, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery beside her late husband, Hugh Powell Jenkins, Jr. Surviving is her daughter, Karen J. Schlienz of Manassas; grandchildren, Glenn, Nicole, Kaitlin, Kasey and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Courtney; brother, Bud Barnes of Richmond, VA; other relatives in the Fremont community. The family will be at 206 S. Vance St, Fremont, on Saturday.
