David Woodard

David Warren Woodard, Jr., of Wilson, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

David was a graduate of Ralph L. Fike High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of the Zeta Psi fraternity.  After David earned his law degree from UNC, he received a masters of taxation from NYU School of Law.

For nearly five decades, David’s career as an attorney was complemented by his integrity, sharp intellect, and compassionate nature; which guided countless individuals through both prosperous and challenging times.

As a lifelong resident of Wilson he was passionate about the growth and development of his community. He found immense joy coaching his daughters in soccer, pulling for the Tar Heels, and reading a good book on the porch in Morehead City.

His girls will remember him as the best father who instilled in them kindness, compassion, and loyalty.

He was predeceased by his parents Romaine Clark Woodard and David Warren Woodard, and his sister Romaine Clark Woodard. 

David is survived by his wife, Mial Broadfoot Woodard, and daughters, Romaine Clark Woodard (Gabe Tiller) of Raleigh, NC; Kate Woodard Marks (Smith) of New Orleans, LA; and Warren Woodard of New York, NY. 

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Wilson, NC on Tuesday, March 26^th at 11:00 am. A reception will follow after the service.
