Darlor Dean “Deanie” Pridgen Baker, 88, died Monday, July 25, 2022.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville. Dr. William Presnell and Rev. Paul Weaver will officiate the service.

Mrs. Baker was born July 22, 1934, to Robert Lee and Martha Ada Ward Everette Pridgen in Nash County and she grew up in the Oak Level Community. She graduated from Nashville High School in 1952. She was a bookkeeper at Wilkerson-Bullock Insurance Company in Rocky Mount where she met Josiah Duncan (Buck) Baker. They were married November 30, 1957 and were married for 57 years. She was the first runner-up in the 1963 Nash County Harvest Festival in Nashville. She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

She attended Nash Community College and North Carolina Wesleyan College and she was a librarian and teacher assistant at Coopers Elementary School for many years.

Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her husband Josiah Duncan (Buck) Baker, her parents, brothers Henry Ray Everette, James Aaron Everette, Daniel Lee Pridgen, Robert Lee Pridgen, Jr. and sister Mary Louise Ferro.

She is survived by her only child, Duncan Baker; sister-in-law, Marion Pridgen of Nashville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thanks to Wilson House Assisted Living and Memory Care and Community Home Care and Hospice for the outstanding care they provided.  Special thanks to Anjanette Artis and Mellie James for their personal care and attention.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 5326 London Church Rd., Elm City, NC 27822.
