WILSON - Donald Braxton Pittman, 81, died January 1, 2008. He was a Farm Manager with the Trust Department of Branch Banking and Trust Company having retired as a Vice-President in 1991. He graduated from NCSU in 1956 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. For about 35 years, he served on the Soil and Water Conservation Committee in Wilson County and several years as chairman. Braxton was a dedicated member of First Baptist church where he served as chairman of the deacons, Sunday School teacher, Senior Adult Choir member and in the Baptist Men's organization. In the Boys Scouts, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award and the Good Shepherd Award by the Association of Baptists for Scouting. An active member of the Wilson Optimist Club for 50 years, he served many local offices and was once a Lt. Governor of the Eastern District. Service to his country was during the Korean Conflict. Funeral, Friday, 11 AM, First Baptist Church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Rosa Creech Pittman: daughter, Pamela Parker (Steven) of Covington, VA: sons, Gregory Pittman (Elena) of Hopewell, VA and Don Pittman (Janet) of the Middle East: wonderful grandchildren, Joshua and Rebecca Pittman: Michael, Philip, Elizabeth and Thomas Parker: Daniel and Timothy Pittman: sister, Clarice Barbour of Smithfield. The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Thursday, 6 - 7:30 PM.
