WILSON - D. R. Colcord, Jr. (Roddy) of Wilson, NC, died quickly at home on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the age of 62 as a result of his battle with Multiple System Atrophy. Gracious and faithful, he loved and served the Lord and treasured his family.

A service will be held Friday, October 9 at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church of Wilson, NC with a reception following. The family asks for no flowers; gifts in sympathy and condolence can be given to First Presbyterian Church's pastors' fund.

Roddy was born to parents, the late David Colcord and Doris Casada Colcord on May 19, 1953. He grew up primarily in Atlanta, GA, graduating from Shamrock High School. He was a 5th generation graduate of GA Tech proud of his Ramblin' Wreck heritage. Roddy worked 26 years for Kemper Insurance Co. most recently in the New York City and Tokyo offices. From 2001 till 2011 he turned his love of woodworking into a business, Roddy's Renovations. While in Wilson, Roddy enjoyed church, the bridge club, and his love of gardening.

Roddy was blessed with loving family. His 4 girls were his pride and joy! He married his high school sweetheart, best friend, and co-conspirator, Claire McDonald Colcord in 1975. He is survived by Claire and daughters Katie Johnsen, and her husband, Eric of Fleetwood, PA; Tracy Colcord Riley, and her husband, Pat of Albany, NY; Tory Tolles and her husband, Chris of Cambridge, MA; and Hayley McMichael, her husband, Ben and son, Quentin of Houston, TX; his sister Lynn Davis and her husband, Jud of Chattanooga, TN; brothers Ricky Colcord and his wife, Christine, and brother Mike of Bryson City, NC.
