Connie Tant

Connie Roberts Tant, 83, of Wilson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Funeral, Sunday, 5:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service, followed by at time of visiting and sharing.

Connie was born on May 19, 1939 in Burley, Idaho to Clarence Bunot Roberts and Ree Lavon (Papworth) Roberts. She was the eighth of nine children. Connie grew up in Washington before moving to North Carolina to raise her family.

Connie was a loving homemaker for most of her life. Raising three wonderful children and creating a home that her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to be in. She was a long-time member of Sims United Methodist Church where she enjoyed participating in the choir and lending her talents at decorating the church for many occasions and celebrations over the years. She taught crafting classes at several senior homes and establishments where she shared her many talents with others.  She was always ready to lend a hand or make a dish for anyone in need. Connie was the center of all family gatherings as she made each holiday special with great cooking and lots of love. To know Connie was to know that she loved her family, and she loved the Lord. She lived a good life and has left her family with so many wonderful memories that they will always cherish.

Connie was blessed with three children:  Teresa Bishop (Charles) of Wasilla, AK, Robbie Tant (Rhonda) of Selma, and Michelle Owens (Greg Bennett) of Wilson.  She meant the world to her eight grandchildren, their loving spouses, and her twelve great-grandchildren, who all affectionately named her “GG”.  Connie loved her bonus daughters and extended family, Camellia Cortazzo, Teresa “Tress” Pyatte (Rodney), Brenda Finch and Gary Boswell.  She is also survived by her beloved sister, Nadine Hackney (Lewis) of Kennewick, WA, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Along with her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her brothers, Gordon Roberts and Keith Roberts; sisters, Elaine Tanner, Sydawna Hoke, Doris Lammert, Beverly Gilkerson, and Clarice Roberts; her former husband, John Robert Tant, with whom she raised a loving family; her loving companion in her later years, Charles “Duke” Draper.  Many will be waiting to greet her at the pearly gates as she gets to be with her Savior.  “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”  (1 Corinthians 15:22)

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in Connie’s honor to Hospice of Wilson, 2130 Forest Hills Rd. W, Suite A, Wilson, NC 27893 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
