WILSON - Clarence Martin Staubs, 83, formerly of Alexandria, Virginia, died May 18, 2010, at home. Funeral, Saturday, May 22, 12:30 PM, First United Methodist Church, Wilson. Mr. Staubs was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to Claire Lucille and Clarence W. Staubs. He was a 60 year resident of Alexandria, Virginia before moving to Wilson, North Carolina. Clarence was a veteran of World War II; he served in the United States Coast Guard. He was the Assistant Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission and retired from there after 20 years. He represented the SEC on the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and traveled abroad extensively throughout his career. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling in Europe. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Alexandria, serving there in numerous capacities. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary. He was the devoted husband of Doris Elaine Staubs for over 60 years, and he is survived by her and their three children: Vicki Edwards, Richard Staubs and Patti Staubs and four grandchildren, Johnathan Edwards, Katie Edwards, Cameron Staubs-Friedmann and Beckett Staubs-Friedmann.
