Christine Barnes Laughinghouse, 95, of Wilson, died Thursday, May 21, 2020.
Funeral, Tuesday, 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Christine was the only child of Thomas Floyd and Lillian Gray Barnes. She graduated Charles L. Coon where she met the love of her life, Lyman “Bud”. They were married for 68 years until his death in 2013.
She worked for Hackney Brothers, Inc. for 53 years as the Parts Sales Manager. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a charter member of the Pilot Club, and a member of the Wilson Chapter 145, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed volunteering in the Wilson Memorial Hospital Gift Shop.
The couple were not blessed to be parents, but enjoyed the time shared with Larry A. Laughinghouse, a nephew, his wife, Mary Gene, and their son, Tyler. They were blessed to be a part of a very large and loving family. All four brothers, Jack, Joe, King and Bill, and five sisters, Esther, Dolly, Elsie, Mary and Molly preceded them leaving many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews to love.
Thanks to everyone that took the time to make a memory in Christine’s life.
Special thanks to a neighbor, Charlie Warrick, Jr, and his family, who always looked after both Christine and Lyman. Thank you to her caregivers, Kathy Cummings, Cathy Garner, Margaret Phillips, and Community Home Care and Hospice.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1467, Wilson, NC 27894, or to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 403 East Front St., New Bern, NC 27560.
