WILSON - Christine "Chris" Rucker Wilson, 87, of Bradford Place, died Friday, August 16, 2013.
Funeral, Sunset Cemetery, Shelby, Tuesday, 2:00 PM. After the interment, the family will be at the home of Will and Tina Rucker in Shelby.
She was born on February 20, 1926, in Rutherford County to the late William Ralph and Lillian Pearl Glascoe Rucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Coleman Wilson, in February, 2012; sister, Mary Lillian Rucker Spangler; brother, William Ralph Rucker, Jr.
Mrs. Wilson graduated from Western Carolina University in 1949, and taught social studies in Shelby and the Raleigh School Systems. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Wilson and a member of the Bradshaw Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her daughters, Shannon Christine Wilson of Morehead city and Mary "Cindy" W. Heacox and husband, Frank Wesley Heacox of Wilson; two granddaughters, Spencer Heacox Melton and her husband, Patrick Oliver Melton, of Charlotte; Susan Heacox Hitt and her husband, John David Hitt, of Wilmington; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Elaine Melton of Charlotte; brother, Phil Rucker of Port Charlotte, FL.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Sunday, 5:00 - 6:00 PM.
