Charles Davis, Jr.

EUREKA - Charles Thomas Davis, Jr., 85, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019.

Funeral, Sunday, 4:00 PM, Eureka United Methodist Church, with visiting for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery with his wife, Joyce Varnell Davis, who died in November, 2016, his daughter, Jennifer Davis, who died in 1992, and his parents, Charles T. and Sallie Moore Davis.

He is survived by his daughters, Nora Aycock (Gary) of Pikeville and Lisa Friesen (Kevin) of Henderson, NE; grandchildren, Nicole Ardes (Reese) and Logan Aycock, Andrew and Jonathan Friesen; great-granddaughter, Kenzie Joyce Ardes; sister, Nora D. White of Greenville, SC.

Active in the community, he was the last charter member of the Eureka Fire Department having served as the third fire chief; dedicated member of the Ruritan Club; Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict era; operated the C.T. Davis Store until its closure; an avid organ donor advocate; and by all accounts, a strong supporter of his alma mater, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
