Carolyn grew up in Mount Olive and attended Wilson School of Nursing which led her to a long and memorable career that she loved; being a nurse and care giver. She began her nursing career at the Woodard Herring Hospital and later helped move patients to Wilson Memorial Hospital. Through out her career she was known for her firm compassion and loving spirit by every patient and family she cared for. She retired from her nursing career in 2005 and became more active in her church; Horne's United Methodist, where she attended weekly worship, bible study, and the senior adult "Joy Team". Along with spending time at church, she also treasured time she could be with her family and working in her yard where she had some of the most beautiful flowers one could find. Another favorite pastime was attending live performances presented by the Wilson Arts Council's ACT! For Youth program which involved her grandchildren at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center. She would make it a point to attend every performance she possibly could.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided by the staff of Vidant Medial Center, in Greenville; The Brian Center, Wilson; and the remarkable compassion and professional skill of the staff of Wilson Medical Center and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hornes United Methodist Church, 145 W. Hornes Church Rd, Wilson NC 27896-6051 or to ACT! For Youth, Wilson Arts Council, 124 Nash St SW, Wilson NC 27893-3956.
The family will be at 3614 Columbia Ave, NW, Wednesday, April 2nd, from 7:00 - 8:30 PM.
