Carolyn Jones

Carolyn Campbell Jones, 77, of Wilson, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 25, 2025.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be at Peace Church on Friday, January 31, 11:00 AM, followed by visitation.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband Don Jones in 2012 and parents, James and Louise Dunivent Campbell.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Whitley (Jimmy) of Smithfield and Jessica Mayo of Morehead City; granddaughter, Presley Joyner (Brandon) of Princeton; sister, Dorothy Modlin of Wilson; niece, Kimberly Lucas of Wilson and great niece, Avery Lucas of Wilson.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Jones raised her daughters in a loving Christian home. While working full time as a nurse at Wilson Medical Center (for many years on the night shift), she managed to attend recitals, games and functions and most importantly, get the family to church.

After retiring from nursing for over 40 years, Mrs. Jones enjoyed her time volunteering for Peace Church, spending time with family and friends and working with her hands including quilting, sewing, gardening, canning and more. Her most precious time spent was with her granddaughter and helping others. If someone had a need, she would find a way to meet that need. Mrs. Jones even traveled to Mexico and Romania for mission work in her retirement.

The family would like to thank 3HC and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the loving care they provided over the past few months and in the final hours of her life.
