Carolyn Frey

Carolyn Huff Frey, 70, of Wilson, died June 18, 2020, following a brief illness.

Memorial service, Saturday, July 11, 5:00 PM, First Presbyterian Church, 414 Sunset Rd, Wilson.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and they remained close by her side until the end.

Carolyn graduated from Furman University with a B.A. in Education. She was an educator and mentor to many, teaching elementary school for 40 years, 28 of those years at Greenfield School, before her retirement in 2013. Carolyn had a deep love of her animals and exploring nature, often finding and preserving leaves and rocks for her window ledge collection. She was affectionately known by many in Wilson as "Sir," and more recently "Granny Sir."

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Lloyd Frey; sons,  Robert Adam Frey and wife, Kelli Ray Frey of Angier and Jonathan David Frey and wife, Jackie Williams Frey of Raleigh; grandsons, Harrison Adam Frey and Benjamin James Frey; sisters, Linda Allison and husband, Mark Allison of Taylors, SC and Becky White and husband, Skipper White of SC; brother, Joseph Bruce Huff of Greenville, SC; nieces, Stacy Corbin and husband, Alan Corbin and their daughters, Katie and Ellie of Taylors, SC, and Christie Allison; nephew, Nathaniel White of Greenville, SC.
