Carlie Moore

WILSON - Carlie Walston Moore, 89, died Monday, January 17, 2011. She will be remembered in our hearts as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her family was her greatest love and joy and she enjoyed caring for them, cooking for them, canning and freezing the vegetables grown in her garden and babysitting her many grandchildren. Carlie was a quiet, gentle woman who was devoted to her family and enhanced many lives with her grace, dignity, caring nature and love. In her 89 years, she touched many lives and as a result, she left this world a better place. Carlie was born July 10, 1921 in Appie, NC and was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Lena Albritton Walston of Walstonburg. After graduating from high school, she worked for Efer's department store until she married L.J. Moore. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. She was the loving and proud mother of six children. Carlie was a homemaker and worked tirelessly with her husband on his tobacco farm for over 45 years. She was a long standing member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Wilson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Moore; sisters, Hazel and Doris Walston and brothers, Alvin and Warner Walston. Funeral, Thursday, 11 AM, First Free Will Baptist Church. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, L.J. Moore; daughters, Linda Davis (Harold) of Wilson and Sandra Angus (Bill) of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Larry Moore (Rose) and Garry Moore (Stephanie) of Wilson, Fred Moore (Linda) of Elm City; grandchildren, Brian Davis (Amanda), Greg Davis, Korey Angus, Meagan Moore, Candace Moore, Michelle Linker (Dan), Michael Moore (Darlene), Jennifer Lewis (Eric) and Jordan Johnson (Blake); great-grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Brice and Sarah Davis, Zachary and Grayson Linker, Jackson Lewis and Hunter and Connor Lewis; sisters, Mildred Duke and Dixie Rogers (Donald) of Wilson; brothers, Harry Walston (Helen) of Sims and Gerald Walston (Pearl) of Wilson; sisters-in-law, Gladys Walston of Elm City, Betty Walston of New Bern and Lillian Wright of Wilson. Memorials are suggested to First Free Will Baptist Church, 4865 Nash St N, Wilson NC 27896 or to Hospice of Wilson Medical Center, 1705 Tarboro St SW, Wilson NC 27893. The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Wednesday, 7-9 PM.
