Bud Pearson

Rodney Madison "Bud" Pearson, 89, of Sims, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday evening, December 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Funeral, Saturday, 10:00 AM, at Wilson Memorial Service.  The visitation will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Friday, 5:00-6:30 PM.

Rodney was born in Nash County on April 29, 1933. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation in 1996 and was married to the love of his life, Rebecca Farmer Pearson, for 59 years. He had three great passions in his life: his faith, his family, and his love for the outdoors. 

He was a loving and devoted husband and father, but his greatest joy was his 15 grandchildren and great-grandson. He spent countless hours with all at family gatherings, birthday parties, mountain trips, fishing, hunting, and sporting events, entertaining everyone with his quick wit and sense of humor. 

When he wasn’t spending time with his family, at church, or outdoors, he could be found lounging in his chair by the window eating a “pack of nabs” and enjoying Gunsmoke reruns or cheering on a UNC game or NASCAR race. 

Throughout his life, he also displayed an immense affection for animals owning and caring for several dogs, cats, chickens, cattle, and swine. 

He was predeceased by his two elder sisters, Clarice (Jim) Pearson and Esther (Tinker) Bryant, his son, Rodney Thomas Pearson, of Wilmington, and his grandsons, James Rodney Pearson, and Pearson Thomas Moore. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Farmer Pearson, of the home, and six children: Bradley Michael Pearson (Shelley) of Fuquay-Varina, Beth Pearson Moore (Paul) of Wilson, Bracey Nicole Kinnamon (Jeff) of Wilson, Rodney Brent Pearson (Renee) of Wilson, Brenna Pearson Kemp (Kevin) of Currituck, and Gregory Alan Pearson of Wilmington. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5854 Shiloh Church Rd, Wilson, NC 27896.
