Brockman Plauche

WILSON - Brockman Lett Plauché, 86, of Wilson, died Sunday, May 20, 2012.

The funeral will be Wednesday, 2PM at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church with burial in the church columbarium. The Rev. Marty Stebbins and the Rev. Philip Byrum will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Tuesday at Wilson Memorial Service 2811 Fieldstream Dr.

Brock was born in Dallas, Texas, to Caeser Gremillion Plauché' and Dallas Lett Gerding. He attended Texas A&M, Arkansas A&M, and graduated from the University of Miami. He retired as a major in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1964 after serving 22 years and moved to Wilson to join the faculty of the then Wilson County Technical Institute to become the Dean of Student Services until retirement in 1982.

He was instrumental in starting the Community Soup Kitchen, volunteering and eventually becoming chairman. He was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels, volunteer and director of the Wilson Crisis Center and Wesley Shelter volunteer. He served on the Wilson Planning and Zoning Board and the Historic Preservation Board, and was a volunteer and board member of the Arts Council of Wilson. At St. Timothy's, Brock served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and on the Vestry, as head usher and leader of a small adult Bible Study.

Brock is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bass Plauché, and daughters Suzanne Dickerman of Wilson and husband Larry; Elaine Judge of Alpharetta, GA, and Alice Plauché-Evans and husband Billy of Bailey, and his grandchildren, Daniel Dickerman of New York, NY, Samuel Dickerman of Harrisburg, PA, Grace Dickerman of Wilson and Emily Judge of Alpharetta, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Carl Clarence Gerding; his son-in-law Wayne Judge, and his granddaughter, Charlotte Dickerman.
