Bonita Godwin

Bonita Short Godwin, 79, of Smithfield, died Monday, August 12, 2024.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery, Section D.

Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Bryant Lee and son-in-law, Brad Mendyk.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years Kenneth Ray Godwin; daughters, Stephanie McLawhorn (Clayton) and Jennifer Mendyk of Ayden, Natalie Peterson (Jerry) of Clayton, and Julie Hite of Willow Springs; grandchildren, Brittney Tice (Derrick), Jarred Mendyk, Bryce Mendyk (Shelby), Logan Peterson (Hope), Cameron Peterson (Madeline), Anna Peterson, Celeste Shear (Kyle), Noah Hite, Paige Hite (Jonathan), Morgan Hite, Courtney McLawhorn Brown (Bart), and Melissa McLawhorn Jones (Jason); great-grandchildren, Shoal Tice, Jayden Beaman, Haven Mendyk, Avery Shear, Wyatt Wood, Mason Wood, Gideon Peterson, Eleanor Peterson, Walker Jones, Holden Jones, Lyla Jones, Addie Grace Brown, Braylen Brown, Haydon Hite and Kashton Hite.
