WILSON - Billy R. Newton, 68, died Monday, March 28, 2016.
Funeral, Thursday, 3:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive. The family will be at the funeral home, Wednesday, 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
Billy was a master gardener, enjoyed wood carving and with his wife restored homes for some 38 years. There were several foreign mission trips with the Church of God and the First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of East Carolina University.
He is survived by his wife, Lindy Clark Newton; daughter, Christy Johnson (Joseph) of Wallace; son, Will Newton (Julia) of Wilson; granddaughter, Flora Newton of Wilson; puppies whom he thought of as grandchildren, Daisy and Henry Johnson; brothers, Jim Newton (Betsy) of Rocky Mount and Jerry Newton (partner, Michael Barrash) of Baltimore, MD; niece, Letty Newton of Tallahassee, FL, and nephew, Chris Newton of Asheville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Elsie Wilkins Newton; brother, Larry Newton; niece, Amy Newton.
