LUCAMA – William R. “Bill” Watson, 90, of the Spring Hill community, died Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
Funeral, Friday, 3:00 PM, Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. The visitation will be one hour before the funeral.
Bill served his country in the United States Air Force for nearly 22 years. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the US Postal Service over 22 years. As a former member of First Baptist Church of Wilson, his deep faith in God and love for his fellow man were expressed through service to others. Bill served as a deacon and as an active member of Baptist Men on Missions. He truly lived the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:40, contributing to the needs of The Masonic Children's Home of Oxford, various indigenous people and countless others, including the needs of those in his community.
In his latter years, Bill returned to his childhood church, Spring Hill Presbyterian, where he sang in the choir and continued his lifelong service to others. He enjoyed visits with his two grandsons, tending his gardens, and caring for his beautiful wife Jo Ann in her latter years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Joyner Watson, in December 2018; parents, Otis and Roxie Vaughn Watson; brother, Charles Watson.
He is survived by his daughters, Martha Watson of Sims and Kathy Daignault of Charlotte; grandchildren, Brennan and Spencer Daignault.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, 7246 Springfield School Rd, Lucama, NC 27851, or the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St, Oxford, NC 27565.
