Wilson, NC - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of William G. Batts Jr., affectionately known as “Bill”, on April 16, 2025.
A service was held for the family.
Born to William Gilbert Batts Sr. and Mildred Spicer Proctor Batts, Bill was a devoted father and husband whose presence lit up every room he entered with his playful spirit.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carole Batts; sons, William Scott Batts (Nadia) and Daniel Ryan Batts (Becky). He leaves behind cherished memories and three grandchildren, Josh Batts, Cody Batts, and Scotty Batts.
We also remember his granddaughter, Brittany Batts, who preceded him in death in October 2023.
Bill learned the value of hard work by assisting his father in the fields and later held a position at a local grocery market. His career path took a significant turn when he joined the armed forces, choosing the Air Force and serving in the 310 Combat Defense Squadron (SAC), stationed in Kansas. It was here that he met and fell in love with Carole. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bill embarked on a career as a self-employed electrical engineer. A self-made entrepreneur, he founded "Batts Sight & Sound," a business dedicated to servicing electronics for the community. His passion for innovation and service marked a fulfilling career that left a lasting impact.
He was known for his playful nature, always ready to engage in light-hearted banter with those he loved. His zest for life and genuine affection for family and friends created a warm and inviting environment for everyone around him. While Bill's physical presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Through his life's work, his family, and his enduring spirit, Bill left an indelible mark on the world, and his memory will be cherished forever.
