Beverly Cousins Summerlin, 84, of Goldsboro, died Thursday, January 14, 2021.
She was born in Nathalie, VA on July 20, 1936, and was the only daughter of the late Victor and Emma Cousins. A 1954 graduate of Goldsboro High School, Beverly held many jobs in her working career. For over twenty years, she supported the family business, Sportsville in Wilson, and later retired as a bank teller. She lived in Fremont for 23 years where she raised her children and was very active in community, civic, church and school affairs. She served as the treasurer for her church for 15 years.
Her happiest hours were spent watching her children play sports, and enjoying her friends around the card table.
Mrs. Summerlin was preceded in death by her husband, Gene A. Summerlin in March, 2017; parents, Victor and Emma Lee Cousins; brothers, W.V. Cousins, Jr. and Oscar M. Cousins.
She is survived by her children, Gene A. Summerlin, II (Michele) of Fairfax Station, VA, LeAyne Connerley (Mark) of Aylett, VA, and Paul Summerlin (Tonya) of Wilson; grandchildren, Katy Summerlin, Will Connerley (Mariah), Kendall Connerley (Austin Turner), Annah-Claire Summerlin (Kevin Kruse), Lawson, Elena, and Walker Summerlin; brother, Bob Cousins (Linda) of Goldsboro; sisters-in-law, Pat Cousins, Frances Cousins, Joyce Vinson; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Beverly Summerlin are suggested to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1538, Goldsboro, NC 27530 designated to the Lottie Moon Offering or the Prayer Shawl ministry.
