Betty Lee Dulaney King of New Bern passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Park, in Wilson, NC and a memorial service will be at Garber United Methodist Church in New Bern, NC that same day at 3:00 PM. Family will greet guests after the memorial service.
Living a full and faith-filled 95 years here on earth, she was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty was born on April 22, 1926 in Pulaski County, Virginia to Theopholus and Zobeda Dulaney. She graduated from Pulaski High School and then began nursing training at Memorial Hospital in Danville, VA and Nurse Anesthesia training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Betty married Winfred M. King, Sr. on December 20, 1953 at her family home. Winfred and Betty welcomed three children Mac, Terry and Rodney. Betty retired as a Nurse Anesthetist from Wilson Memorial Hospital. In their retirement, Betty and Winfred delighted in gardening, traveling, and serving on church mission trips together. In 2005 she moved to New Bern to be near to her son, Mac, and his family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred, son, Rodney and daughter, Terry. Additionally, she is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charles, Theo, and Chapman, and sisters, Myrtle, Mary, and Gloria.
She is survived by son Mac King (Sara) son-in-law, Chris Liebl (Janice), grandchildren, Lara Lee Waters (Matthew), Kyle Liebl (Brooke), Michael Liebl (Alex), Mary Beth Harton (Kasey), and Eric Liebl and bonus grandchildren, Jenn Bacon (Nate), Tate Junis (Chuck), Maggie Ryan and Faith Ryan. Some of Betty’s smallest and sweetest survivors are great-grandchildren, Calvin & Cameron Liebl and Robbie Harton, and Lucy Liebl (who will be born soon) and bonus great-grandchildren, Levi Bacon and Ellie & Phillip Junis; sister, Agnes Padgett, and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to MOSAIC Senior Adult Ministries at Garber United Methodist Church, 4201 Country Club Road, New Bern, NC 28562.
