WILSON - Benjamin Clifton Barbee, Jr., of Reidsville and formerly of Wilson, died Monday, October 13, 2014.
Funeral, Thursday, 2 PM, First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The visitation will be at the church following the funeral.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Clifton Barbee, Sr. and Eula Carr Morris Barbee of Wilson; his first wife, Dorothea Parker Tomlinson Barbee; sisters, Mary Lewis of Farmville, Mabel Rowland of Wilson and brother, E.C. Barbee of Wilson.
Upon graduation from high school he served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater for the duration of World War II.
The 93 year old long time resident of Wilson was plant manager of R. P. Watson Tobacco Company and Wallace Murray Corporation of Wilson. Barbee was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Wilson, serving as Elder and Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
Barbee is survived by his wife, Rita Jane Watson Barbee, five children; Cliff Barbee of Reidsville, Carol Amerson and Duke Boykin of Raleigh, Pat Edwards of Roanoke, VA, and Elizabeth Brann of Greenville along with their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which he loved dearly.
