Becky Pearson

Rebecca "Becky" Farmer Pearson, 83, of Sims, died Friday, July 21, 2023.

The visitation will be on Friday, July 28, 9:30-11:00 AM at Wilson Memorial Service. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Bailey Cemetery.

Rebecca was born in Elm City, North Carolina, on April 15, 1940. She graduated from Elm City High School and attended Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. 

Throughout her life, she was known for her gentle nature, kindness, and patience towards all. A devout Christian, she strived each day to live a life modeled after Christ, and just as Jesus did, Rebecca "loved the little children." 

She dedicated her life to nurturing, educating, and empowering children. She served as a reading recovery teacher at Lamm School in Sims, NC and spent most Sundays volunteering within the church nursery and children's Sunday school classes. She raised five children of her own and two bonus children and was a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews. She especially loved being a grandmother to her 16 grandchildren and great-grandchild, whom she adored.

She is survived by her children, Brad Pearson (Shelley) of Fuquay-Varina, Beth Moore (Paul) of Wilson, Bracey Kinnamon (Jeff) of Wilson, Brent Pearson (Renee) of Wilson, Brenna Kemp (Kevin) of Currituck, and Gregory Pearson of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sisters, Jeanette Davis of Wilson, Faye Pearson of Elm City; brothers, James Farmer of Raleigh and Stanley Farmer of Chesterfield, VA.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Rodney M. “Bud” Pearson; son, Rodney Thomas Pearson; grandsons, James Rodney Pearson and Pearson Thomas Moore; parents, Roy and Gladys Moore Farmer; brothers, Tom Farmer, Cuyler Farmer, and Willis Farmer.             

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Hospice of Wilson and Spring Arbor for the care of their mother.
