Becky Jones

Rebecca Capps "Becky" Jones, 70, of Wilson, died Thursday, August 12, 2021.

Funeral, Sunday, 2:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park where the family will greet those in attendance.  The family requests masks be worn by all in attendance.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin R. “Teeny” Jones, Jr.; daughters, Tara J. Brown (Jeff) of Wilson and Courtney J. Price (Ryan) of Kenly; grandchildren, Noah Edwin Brown and Carson Rebecca Price; special friend and companion, “Marley”; several nieces and nephews.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Bernie Capps and Mary Ramey Capps and sister, Rosemary Capps.

Becky grew up in Jacksonville, NC, where she graduated from Jacksonville High School.  She attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.  She met the love of her life and married her lifelong partner Teeny.  December 19th would have marked their 50th anniversary which they celebrated in her final days.

Shortly after graduation she began her career of teaching children for 32 years.  Teaching was not a job to Becky but rather a passion to help children prepare for their lives ahead.  With limited funds available for extra visual aids and material she spent many dollars out of her own pocket for materials that would enhance her student’s education needs.

Becky’s journey through life consisted of many travels with Teeny’s job and she always enjoyed meeting new friends and adding value to her husband’s business.

As her friends knew, Becky enjoyed the holidays and if her house was not decorated for Christmas by mid-October which, never happened she would have been upset with Teeny and the girls.  Weekends, holidays, and birthdays were very special with cookouts, presents and cakes for her family.  She was a very giving and caring person who always wanted to make everyone happy and feel good.

Becky loved The Shriner’s and was very supportive of Teeny when he was appointed to be in the Divan line at Sudan Shriners.  In 2018, Teeny was elected to be Potentate of the Sudan Shriners and Lady Becky orchestrated one of the best years in Sudan history with ceremonies and Imperial meetings.  Becky had a true passion for Shriner’s Hospital for Children and was able to visit many of the facilities that support the mission of Shriner’s Hospitals.

Becky and Teeny attended Milbournie FWB in Wilson where they made many friends and enjoyed the words of God.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rex Cancer Center (especially our coordinator Anne Shook), Dr. Hal Woodall, Nurse Cara, Community Home Care and Hospice (Mandy Harris & Ann Durham) for their support, loving care, and services they provided.
