WILSON - B. Streeter Tugwell, 83, died Saturday, May 19, 2007. Streeter was born August 29, 1923, in Greene County to the late William Benjamin and May Belle Shackelford Tugwell. He graduated from Walstonburg High School in 1940 and played baseball in various leagues in Plymouth, Farmville and Saratoga for 22 years. He helped organize the Bright Belt League in 1946 and played in the Coastal Plain League in Rocky Mount for the 1950 season. He lived and worked in Farmville for A.C. Monk &: Co. retiring in 1986 with 34 years of service. Upon retirement, he moved to Wilson and participated in the planning of three Old Timers baseball gatherings. In 2005 he was awarded the Charles "Red" Barrett Special Achievement Award by the Wilson Hot Stove League for his contributions to baseball. No doubt about it, he loved his family, friends, baseball and golf. Funeral, Tuesday, 4 PM, Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Wilson, conducted by Rev. Bobby White. Interment, Shackelford Family Cemetery, Saratoga (Pop City). His family includes his daughters, Cheryl Tugwell of Iowa, City, IA, Marla Adams (Joel) of Asheville, Jan Tugwell of Rocky Mount: a grandson, Ian Tugwell-Nilausen of Iowa City, IA: three step-grandchildren, Akim Nilausen of Iowa City, IA, Sam Adams and Sadie Adams of Asheville: special friend, Sue Parks of Wilson and her family. The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Monday, 6-7:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the N.C. Baseball Museum, 300 Stadium Street, Wilson, NC 27893..
