WILSON - Arthur Earl Ferguson, Sr., 88, died Friday, October 19, 2012.
Funeral, Wednesday, October 24, 11 AM, New Hope Baptist Church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
Arthur was a native of New York and served in the Army during World War II with the 78th Armored Infantry Battalion in Europe. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the French Legion of Merit in addition to the Purple Heart for injuries received. After the war, he went on to be a bridge inspector for the NC Department of Transportation for over 25 years. In Wilson, he was a member of Masonic Lodge #117 having served as Master and Secretary.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Charmaine Mooring Ferguson; son, Arthur Earl Ferguson, Jr. and wife, Susan of Durham; daughter, Donna Pate and husband, Danny of Wilson; grandchildren, Lt Charles Ferguson, USN, Hubert; AEW-2 Christopher Ferguson, USN, Whidbey Island, WA; JAD Pate of Whitsett and Jenna Pate of Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 1305 Navaho Dr, Ste 101, Raleigh, NC 27609.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Tuesday, 7 - 9 PM, and other times at the home of their daughter, Donna Pate.
