SIMS - Arthur Ellis, 90, died Friday, May 18, 2012.
Funeral, Saturday, 6 PM, Milbournie FWB Church, Family Life Center, followed by visitation. Entombment, Sunday, 2 PM, Evergreen Memorial Park.
He was a proud World War II veteran. He was very proud of the small part he played in preserving freedom in America. His stay in the Army provided him with the training he would need later in life as he did electrical work.
He was lovingly known in the Rock Ridge, Sims, Buckhorn areas as "Mr. Arthur, the man that whistled as he worked". He loved to work and was always ready to go and help anyone that needed him and his services. He was a valued and respected person in the community.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Frances Page Ellis in December 2010 and brothers, Jack, Glenn and Benjamin Ellis.
He is survived by his daughter, Edith Parrish (Keith) of Sims; granddaughters, Donna Sullivan (Rev. Johnny) and Tracy Lane (Wayne Pollard) of Sims; great-granddaughter, Morgan Sullivan; great-grandsons, Matthew Sullivan, Corey and Casey Lane; sister, Mary Vester of Knightdale and brother, Raymond Ellis of Clayton.
