Argie Lancaster

Mary Argie Lancaster, age 91, of Pikeville, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, at UNC Health Wayne Hospital. She passed away peacefully and woke up in the arms of her Savior.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, 5:00 PM at Wilson Memorial Service, with visitation beginning at 4:00 PM.  Interment, Monday, 10:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont.

Mary Argie was born to the late Wade H. and Irene S. Owens and was raised in the Faro community. She was a graduate of Eureka High School, class of 1950. She married John R. (J.R.) on June 26, 1952.  They lived in Fremont for 32 years, where she worked in the lunch room at C.B. Aycock High School. She became a member of Faro Chapel PFWB Church where she volunteered with the ladies’ aid and served as the church clerk. Argie was an avid sports fan and found great joy in supporting her children and grandchildren in their sporting, coaching and life pursuits. She will forever be known as a loving and faithful wife, mother and granny.

She is survived by her husband J.R. Lancaster; sons, Randy Lancaster (Sheree) and Tim Lancaster (Tammy) all of Pikeville; granddaughter, Megan Gray (Andrew) of Boone; grandsons, T.J. Lancaster of Goldsboro and David Stallings of Bailey; great-grandchildren, Shepherd, Bowman, Porter, and Banks Gray; sister, Louise Owens of Fremont.

Argie was preceded in death by her parents Wade Hampton Owens and Irene Smith Owens; brother, James Owens; and sister, Frances Owens Rose; half-sister, Melonese Coley; daughter-in-law, Lori Stallings Lancaster.
