Alma Avera

Alma Thorne Avera, 86, of Wilson, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020.

Funeral, Friday, 11:00 AM, Elm City Baptist Church. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Thursday, 6:00 – 7:30 PM.

Mrs. Avera loved going to church, singing in the choir, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was a social butterfly and loved being the center of attention. Everyone that ever met her loved her, and she will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Andrew Bruce Brice and James A. Avera; parents, John William and Sallie Whitehead Thorne; sister, Marjorie Pittman.

She is survived by her daughters, Marty Bass (Sam) of Wilson and Phyllis Halloran (Charlie) of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Emily Bass, Matthew & Megan Halloran; a great-grandchild; twin sister, Dot Wiggs (Rex) of Wilson.
