Allen Gay

CLIFTON, VA - Allen Wilson Gay, 86, died at home on December 18, 2008. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy, and had lived and worked in the Tidewater Virginia area for 60 years. A native of Pitt County, North Carolina, and a 1939 graduate of Fountain High School, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Gay and Lela Gay. Allen was a retired Bank Vice President. He was a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Fairfax Station, VA. Formerly a very active member of Trinity (Norfolk, VA) LCMS church, he also helped found Hope (Virginia Beach, VA) LCMS church. He volunteered at Chesapeake General Hospital (Chesapeake, VA) for over a decade and with Meals on Wheels for many years. Funeral, Saturday, January 3, 3:30 PM, Wilson Memorial Service. He is survived by his two sons, Howard C. Gay and wife Trudy of Clifton, VA, and Keith W. Gay and wife Suzanne of Blacksburg, VA, eight grandchildren, Zebulon and wife Michelle, Jacob, Nathaniel, Rachel and husband Christian, Benjamin, Dennis, John and Leah, a great grandson, Daniel and a sister, Delma Galloway of Wilson, NC. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna C. Gay who passed away in 1999. The family will receive friends at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, N, Saturday, 2:00 to 3:30 PM.
