Eleanor Collier

Newport News, VA - Eleanor Grimes Collier, 85, died Thursday, February 10, 2022.

The visitation will be Monday, 12:00 - 1:00 PM, at Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation.  Interment will follow the Eureka Cemetery.

Eleanor was born in Wayne County and she spent her whole life caring for others and making sure her children and grandchildren were loved and cared for.  She never said no to anyone in need and was a woman that lived a Christian life. Eleanor was a true example of what all should strive to be and always saw the best in everyone, even if others could not.   She had a passion for Jesus and her family and was a true angel on earth and will be missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emmette Ray Collier; her parents, John William “Bill” and Mary Jane “Janie” Grimes; two brothers, Willie Grimes and Donald Grimes and her sister, Mary Della Worthington.

Eleanor leaves behind three brothers, Dee Grimes, Ralph Grimes and Durwood Grimes and her brother-in-law, Franklin Collier; her son, Darrell Keith Collier (Jennifer) of Seaford, VA and daughter, Cheryl Collier Ange (Scott) of Newport News, VA; grandsons, Darrell (Sandy), Justin (Erin) and Taylor and granddaughters, Tonya (Anthony), Rachel (Drew) and Kaleigh; 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson and many other extended family members.
